DONATE-A-CAR accepts most running and non-running cars, trucks, boats, RV motorhomes, trailers, jet skis, snowmobiles and even some motorcycles. When you donate your vehicle, the Donation Center auctions it off to the highest bidder and that money is donated to the charity of your choice–because of YOUR contribution! All donations are eligible for tax deductions.
Provide your vehicle and contact information.
Schedule your car to be picked up! We can even do next day pick-up by a professionally licensed, bonded and insured towing company.
We are listed as United Way of Bergen County.
We accept almost all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment, construction equipment and airplanes.
Your vehicle donation will be sold at auction and the proceeds benefit the nonprofit organization of your choice. Donateacar.com is powered by Insurance Auto Auctions Donation Division to process and sell vehicle donations at auction.
How much the charity receives will vary depending on the sale price and costs of selling the vehicle. The costs vary depending on factors such as towing, auction and advertising expenses. Generally, the charity you choose will receive seventy percent or more of the net proceeds.
We use a licensed and insured national transportation network and complies with all federal and state regulations. By signing the title directly to Donate A Car, you are legally transferring ownership of your vehicle to Bergen County’s United Way.
When your title is received and your vehicle is picked up, you are no longer responsible for the vehicle.
After the vehicle has been sold, you will receive an acknowledgement letter providing your vehicle sale information.
About five days after your vehicle is picked up you will be mailed a receipt for tax deduction purposes. If you itemize your tax return you may deduct the sale value of your donated vehicle or the fair market value up to $500, whichever is greater. They are typically transported to auto salvage yards where all reusable car parts, batteries, tires and fluids are removed. Vehicles that can be recycled are crushed, shredded and recycled into steel.
Recycling cars keeps a huge amount of steel out of landfills – enough to build nearly 45,000 steel-framed homes every year. The energy saved each year is enough to power approximately 18 million homes!
Bergen County’s United Way is paid for these cars. Although the revenue is less for a recycled car than a car that is sold at auction, every donation can make a difference and families that partner with us are extremely grateful for your help.
Since 1994, DonateACar.com has been helping to bring donors and charities together to make a difference in communities.
